Conversation with Sherrie Scaffidi – on her life as a transgender woman

January, 2024

Sherrie Scaffidi is  lovely, funny, open-hearted transgender woman who knew she was different at 9, realized she was actually female at 13, but did not begin to live her authentic life for another 52 years. She is a U.S. Veteran and President of Reno’s Transgender Allies Group, and let me tell you, she will make you laugh, even when talking about sensitive or confusing issues.

She was our very first L3 host in October of 2023 and, by popular request, she hosted another conversation in January of 2024. This is also our first time trying to record one of the events, and I’m learning (crash course!) about how to edit audio.

We meet the first Monday of every month (when applicable) at Nashville Social Club in Carson City, usually in the sun room (sometimes in The Swan Music Hall), so there is music in the background. Also, we meet around a table and share food while we hold our conversations, so you may hear sounds of plates, glasses, or cutlery in the background. I’ve done my best to remove them, but hopefully the subject matter will have you so riveted, you’ll soon no longer notice all that other stuff.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, and perhaps learn how to be a better ally to the transgender community. If you’re local, please feel free to join us. There is no cost, and no age restriction.
